Tinney Davidson is an 88 year-old grandmother from Comox, British Columbia in Canada who has been waving to the local children going to school ever since she moved into her home there with her husband in 2007. Now, she is preparing to move away, and the children who had grown to love Tinney over the years just gave her the touching sendoff that she deserved.

Tinney and her husband have been living in a house that is right next to the local high school, so they have enjoyed waving to the teenagers going to and from schools. The teens grew to love Tinney and her husband over the years, and they soon were waving back to them in droves. Sadly, Tinney’s husband passed away in 2016, but she has carried on the tradition since his death.

The local children have honored Tinney a few times over the years. Most notably, in 2016, they repaid her kindness by giving her dozens of cards and gifts for Valentine’s Day.

When the community of Comox learned that the woman they had affectionately dubbed “the Waving Granny” was moving away, they knew they had to do something for her. Tinney could not believe her eyes when over four hundred children from the area turned up in her front yard to say goodbye to her. As the kids waved, blew her kisses, and gave her hugs, Tinney could not help but burst into tears of joy and gratitude.

It’s so nice to see a community come together to honor a grandmother who had given them so much! Find out more about this in the video below.
