An adorable couple from North Carolina just celebrated their respective 103rd and 100th birthdays as well as 82 years of marriage.

D.W. Williams, 103, and Willie Williams, 100, celebrated their birthdays at a party thrown for them by their family at a local Baptist church. The couple have been together since 1937.

When asked what the secret was to maintaining a long marriage, Willie replied, “Just be nice to each other.”

“It’s communication and loving each other and working together. They are each other’s best friend,” said one of their granddaughters. “To see them at this age and still doing well, it’s just a blessing to have them here.”

During the party, D.W. joked that if the couple had another one hundred years to spend together, they might just “sit around the house.”

When the Williams’ got married, our country was in the middle of the Great Depression, and World War II had not even happened yet! The couple even said that when they met, a cab ride cost a mere 10 cents. It’s amazing to think of all the things that the two of them have seen and experienced together as a couple over the past 82 years.

We wish D.W. and Willie each a happy birthday and a happy anniversary. We hope you have many more to come!
