Lyndel Rhodes is a 92 year-old woman who has loved music all her life. When she recently wrote the song “Little House on the Hill,” she never imagined that it would be successful. It’s no surprise that she was overwhelmed with emotion when legendary country music singer Willie Nelson sang her song.

Lyndel’s son Buddy Canon happens to be a record producer, and he personally contacted Willie to see if he would perform the song. Willie immediately agreed, and Buddy could not have been more excited to present his mother with this gift.

Lyndel has had quite a lot of life experiences in the over nine decades that she has been alive, but she’s never had anything like this happen! As soon as she heard Willie singing her song, Lyndel burst into a huge smile. When Buddy asked if she liked it, Lyndel responded, “I love it.” Her family has loved country music ever since the 1920s, and Lyndel can remember her father playing the banjo with friends and family in the evenings.

Lyndel herself is incredibly talented on the harmonica, and she even once released a CD of her covering old hymns on the instrument. Video of her reaction to Willie’s performance has quickly gone viral, being viewed over one million times!

“This made me tear up a bit. It makes me so happy to see someone have a dream come true. I hope she gets to write other songs for country singers,” one social media user commented, with another adding,  “He sings ‘going back to the hill’ and she says ‘Yup! Thats where I am going’ ….. man oh man, am a grown man but this make me cry a bit, I admit it.”
