An 8 year-old boy was just found wandering around on the streets of Russia, and he immediately told police that he left home to “travel the world.” The youngster was found carrying a piggy bank, three encyclopedias, a toy and a banana.

It all started earlier this week, when police in the city Astrakhan received a call from a panic stricken mother who told them she had left home to take her youngest daughter to school, only to return to find a note from her second grader son saying that he had left home to “travel the world.”

By the time the boy was found three hours later, he had taken three different buses and roughing it on foot. By that point, the boy was already seeing how exhausting the life of an explorer could be, telling officers that he was “already feeling tired and he needed rest.”

The Russian Interior Ministry said that after officers reunited the boy with his mother, they had a “preventive conversation” with the whole family. The story of the boy has since gone viral, with people all over the world getting a kick out of it.

“An 8-year-old boy from Astrakhan undertakes a round-the-world-trip by foot. Whereas I complain when I have to travel across town,” one social media user joked, with another adding light-heartedly, “[I] respect his willingness to get out of Astrakhan.”

Clearly, this family has a little adventurer on their hands! We’re glad this story had a happy ending, and we hope he waits a few more years before embarking on his next big adventure.
