The Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California is a high-kill animal shelter, and those who have visited it all talk about the lack of hope that they see there.

The shelter is full of dogs who are in varying states of decline, and each of them have their own sad story to tell. One of these dogs is a one year-old chihuahua who was abandoned by an owner who did not want her anymore. In a horrifying betrayal, the owner drove the chihuahua to the Carson Animal Shelter and left her there without a word and with nothing but a bag of toys and some treats.

An anonymous source at the shelter said that before this puppy falls asleep at night, she can be heard sobbing quietly, crying herself to sleep while also making sure not to disturb her fellow dogs sleeping around her. How heartbreaking is that?

“I am described as a female, white Chihuahua – Smooth Coated,” a Petharbor listing for her reads. “The shelter thinks I am about 1 year old.I have been at the shelter since Jan 20, 2017. I don’t have much time left. The shelter is full.”

Thankfully, we can tell you that this chihuahua has since been marked down as “adopted,” and we hope that she found the loving forever home that she deserves. Other dogs at Carson, however, are not so lucky.
