An unemployed man from New Jersey is desperately trying to find the Good Samaritan who returned his winning $273 million lottery ticket so that they can split the winnings.

Mike Weirsky is a 54 year-old man who had been struggling to find a job ever since a recent divorce. Just when he was starting to lose all hope in life, his luck took a major turn for the better when he stopped at a convenience store in Phillipsburg to purchase two Mega Millions lottery tickets for $2 each. Mike then became distracted by his phone and left the store without the two tickets.

A mysterious stranger found the tickets and handed them over to employees of the store. Once he realized he forgot the tickets, Mike went back to the store the next day to get them. It was only later that Mike realized that one of them was the winning lottery ticket, and that he had won the $273 million prize!

Mike is so touched by the integrity of the Good Samaritan who handed the tickets over rather than pocketing them that he now wants to find the anonymous person so that they can share the money.

“I’m looking for the guy that handed them in, I want to thank him,” he said. “I’m going to give him something, but I’m going to keep that private.”

Mike already has big plans for how he will spend the money, saying that he wants to buy his mother a car and take his family on vacation. After that, he will be consulting lawyers on how best he can spend the remaining money.

Mike can’t believe how much his luck has turned around!

“I was down, and somehow now, all of a sudden, I’m way up,” he said with a laugh.
