There’s nothing easy about dieting, and worse, people often spend an inordinate amount of money on quick diet fads that don’t work. There’s a lot of misinformation out there regarding dieting but a top diet mistake that is made has just been revealed. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to fix!

Dr. Thomas Chi of the University of California, San Francisco urology department just revealed that the main mistake people make when it comes to dieting is not drinking enough water. He explained that proper hydration is the key to a good diet.

“People who are on extreme diets, they tend to have higher levels of salt and less hydration,” Chi said. He added that all you need to do to fix this is to drink more water, making sure to hydrate whenever you feel thirsty.

Chi went on to say that drinking more water is especially important if you are incorporating more meats and high salt foods into your diet because a combination of “tons and tons of meat” and not enough water may lead to kidney stones.

“I’m not seeing this enormous uptick of patients with kidney stones because they’re all doing a keto diet now,” Chi said.

Even if you aren’t trying to diet at the moment, drinking more water is probably a good idea anyway.

“A lot of times, people just seem to be a little dehydrated,” said Jason Ewoldt, a dietician at the Mayo Clinic.
