Ron and Diana Watson are a couple from Wichita, Kansas who have eaten at the same Texas Roadhouse restaurant six nights a week for the past fifteen years.

The couple has been eating at the restaurant every day except for Saturdays since the location opened back in 2004. They even have a regular booth, number 412, so that they can keep an eye on who is coming and going as they eat their meal.

Diana typically orders a chopped steak topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms, plus a house salad with Ranch dressing, no tomatoes, and a baked potato, no salt. Her drink of choice is a Wichita Brewing 5:02 Amber Ale.

Meanwhile, Ron likes to get a barbecue chicken breast or sometimes the the pork chop, well done along with mashed potatoes, brown gravy and an iceberg lettuce salad with Italian dressing.

The reason that the couple doesn’t go to the restaurant on Saturdays is that Diana works late on that day, and the Texas Roadhouse is usually too crowded by the time she gets off work. Ron said that they began their nightly routine because he doesn’t cook, and he didn’t want to make Diana cook after working a full day.

Ron and Diana are beloved by staffers at the restaurant, and they even have their own “wall of fame” picture.

“They’re kind of like our unofficial mascots,” said manager Kyle Hauber. ‘Everybody talks to them.”

As a veteran who served in the Vietnam War, Ron only eats at restaurants that offer the veteran’s perk. He also suffers from PTSD, and finds the Texas Roadhouse restaurant comforting.

Ron and Diana always eat between 3 and 3:15, allowing them to take advantage of the restaurant’s early bird special which offers them a full meal for $9.49.

“It’s just about as cheap as going to the grocery store, buying your groceries, coming home, heating up the kitchen and doing the dishes,” Ron explained. “If your time’s worth anything to you, it’s about the same as eating at home but you get a lot better service.”

The couple loves their nightly routine, saying it’s like having a date night six times a week.

“She’ll talk about what she did at work while we’re there,” Ron said. ‘It’s just our quiet time together.”
