A Texas man is being called a real life superhero after what he was just photographed doing in Houston.

Last month, Thomas and Shayla Harwell went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the NRG Park in Houston with their two year-old daughter. They had gone there to see Brad Paisley in concert, but they had no idea that Thomas was about to become a viral sensation after a photo of the good deed he did there touched the hearts of people all over the word.

As the Harwells sat waiting for the concert to start, they noticed an elderly woman struggling to get down the stairs to her seat.

“She was having a rough time,” Shayla said. “I nudged my husband and told him that they may need help.”

Without hesitating, Thomas jumped up to help the elderly woman, who was attending the concert with her daughter and two granddaughters. Thanks to him, she was able to get to her seat and enjoy the concert with her loved ones.

Most people would have stopped there, but not Thomas. He kept an eye out for the woman throughout the concert, and when it was over, he carried her back up the stairs so she wouldn’t have to struggle coming up the steps.

“I helped her downstairs, and I wasn’t going to leave until I helped her upstairs,” Thomas explained humbly.

Shayla snapped a photo of Thomas carrying the elderly woman and posted it to social media, where it quickly went viral.

“Y’all I have to brag on my husband big time tonight! He made me Soo proud,” Shayla captioned the image. “As we were sitting in our seats waiting for the rodeo to start I noticed an elderly lady (pictured below) her grown daughter and 2 young granddaughters trying to come down the stairs.”

“The elderly lady was having a rough time,” she continued. “I pointed them out to Thomas Harwell and said they may need help. Not only did he help get her to her seat, but she did not have the strength to come back up the stairs. So, he carried her!”

The woman had a huge smile on her face when Thomas got her to the top of the stairs, and she was incredibly thankful that he helped her! Thomas, however, does not see what he did as a huge deal. He has been a firefighter for the past 15 years with the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department and is a senior captain there, so he says that his job is to help others everyday.

“If you’re alive and breathing, you shouldn’t need an excuse to help someone else,” Thomas said. “If they need help, help them.”

We applaud Thomas for helping this woman in such a beautiful way!
