It’s been nearly thirteen years since the legendary Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin passed away, but he is still dearly missed by millions of fans all over the world. Now, his beloved wife Terri has spoken out to reveal why she has not dated in the many years since Steve’s death.

“I feel a connection still with Steve,” Terri said. “You know when you take those vows, and say ‘we’ll be together as long as we both shall live,’ I really don’t think I would’ve married if I hadn’t met Steve. And he’s very special to me and continues to be.”

She also shot down rumors that she has been dating Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, who she has frequently been spotted with.

“He’s a great guy but absolutely just a dear friend,” Terri said. “The saying goes, when it comes to friends I’d rather have four quarters than a hundred pennies… and he’s definitely a quarter.”

When asked if she would like to see her mother date again, Bindi Irwin explained that she only wants her mom to be happy.

“Honestly, all I want in life in mom’s happiness,” Bindi said. “What people sometimes forget is that when you find your soulmate, if you’ve found that soulmate you really don’t want to move on. So mom had her soulmate and mom and dad will always be married and will always be together. I think that’s a beautiful thing.”

Terri keeps herself busy by preserving Steve’s legacy as the owner of the Australia Zoo, where she continues to keep up  the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve. Steve would be very proud of all the work Terri and the rest of his family continue to do with animals!
