Peter Hollens is a YouTube star who has garnered millions of fans thanks to his vocal abilities. Last week, he scored yet another viral hit when he teamed up with a huge children’s choir to sing the powerful song “You Raise Me Up.”

The song was originally written and performed by Irish-Norwegian duo called Secret Garden, who released it in 2002 with singer Brian Kennedy. At the time, the song was only a minor hit in the United Kingdom, and it was not until Josh Groban released it in the United States that it became a massive global hit.

The lyrics of the song resonate with everyone, reminding us who we are and what we become is influenced by those around us. The successes that we have in life are the results of the people who raised us and lifted us up when we were down.

The video below opens with Peter singing alone onstage. Then, the choir of two hundred young singers come in behind him, and the auditorium is filled with their angelic voices. Peter has a strong voice on his own, but when he teams up with the choir, the result is pure magic.

Video of the performance has quickly gone viral, being viewed over 275,000 times in just six days.

“Oh. My. Gosh. This is absolutely amazing. Josh Groban is a very good singer and one of my favorites. And you did this song so well,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “When the kids’ voices swelled behind you, I got chills!!!”
