Ethan Payne is a 15 year-old boy from Macon, Georgia who was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was only 18 months old. Ethan has never let this hold him back from achieving his dreams, which is why he ended up auditioning for “American Idol” this week!

Two years ago, the Make a Wish Foundation granted Ethan’s wish of meeting his idol, Luke Bryan. Not only did Ethan get to pose for photos with Luke, he also got the chance to perform with him onstage in front of thousands of people. Afterwards, Luke even gave Ethan a guitar!

When auditioning for “American Idol,” Ethan brought this guitar with him. After stepping into the audition room, Ethan opened up to the judges about his disease.

“There’s no cure for it, but singing is definitely my cure for it,” he said. Ethan then asked Luke if he would like to join him for a duet of his hit song “Do I,” and the country music star could not say no!

It was clear to everyone right away that Ethan is an incredibly talented singer, as he was able to harmonize with Luke right away. His vocal abilities are all the more amazing given the fact that the teenager has difficulty breathing because of his disease.

Ethan and Luke had so much chemistry together that the judges were blown away by the time they were done singing.

“You, young man, you’re an inspiration,” judge Lionel Richie said. “I’m hoping that the whole world understands what they’re watching here because it really is a fabulous, fabulous blessing.”

“Ethan, I loved your confidence,” judge Katy Perry added.

Needless to say, Ethan is moving on to the next round!
