Four little girls just reunited for a powerful photoshoot two years after each of them beat cancer.

McKinley, Chloe, Ava, and Lauren are four girls who were all diagnosed with cancer at a young age, and they met while they were being treated at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Each of the girls were suffering from a different form of cancer, but they bonded immediately as they were treated in the same ward of the hospital.

“She’s three years old and doesn’t have any hair, but all her friends in the hospital look the same way. So it kind of gave her some normality” said Lauren’s mom Shawna Glynn said, with another mother adding,  “It was just always a breath of fresh air to see a familiar face, and to know that she wasn’t alone in there.”

The friendship did not only benefit the girls, as it helped to keep their mothers strong as well. Karen Moore, McKinley’s mom, said that “from the standpoint of a mom, too, having other moms to relate to has been phenomenal. Just to have other people going through it at the same time as us.”

Paige Ward was one of the nurses who cared for the girls, and she could not be happier that they are all healthy today.

“It gives me chills, it makes me want to cry,” she said. “I mean, I love these kids as if they were my own, for sure. They’re awesome.”

The girls had a blast taking part in the photoshoot together!

The girls have no intention of ever losing touch, as they now plan to have a reunion annually. Find out more about their story in the video below.
