Myra Tran has only lived in the United States for a year, but many are already saying that she is about to become the next “American Idol.”

Myra left the judges speechless when she auditioned for the latest season of “American Idol” this week, as they never expected such a big voice to come out of someone so young! Myra, who is 19, has dreamed of becoming a singer ever since she was a child listening to Whitney Houston songs in her home country of Vietnam. Since moving to the U.S., Myra has been practicing her singing skills in her high school choir, and she felt ready to show the judges what she’s got when it came time to audition.

“I [moved] here so I can follow my dream,” she explained. “[It’s] the best way to follow my dream.”

Myra already has tons of experience in the reality television singing world. Three years ago, she won “The X-Factor Vietnam,” and she now has her sights set on the title of “American Idol.” Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie did not know what to expect from her when she walked in, but as soon as she opened her mouth, they were blown away.

Myra chose to sing the soulful Jennifer Hudson song “One Night Only,” and she totally nailed it! She manages to bring her own personality to the song and to hit every note perfectly.

Before Myra even finished singing, the judges were already high-fiving each other, as they knew that they had found a superstar!

“You’re in high school?” Katy asked incredulously once she was finished.

“Yes,” Myra replied. “I’m in a choir in high school.”

“You are the choir!” Lionel corrected her, making Myra smile from ear to ear.

“If you keep singing, you’re really gonna connect with people,” Katy said to her. “We can really feel who you are through the music. I feel like music transcends language barriers, and you just showed us that.”

Luke compared Myra to Kelly Clarkson, who won the inaugural season of “American Idol.”

“You have stepped into a zone that is yours, and all I want you to do from now on is rule your zone,” Lionel said. “Because you are going places.”
