It’s always touching to see two animals that are a completely different species from one another create a strong bond. One family just witnessed this firsthand when their puppy bonded with a cow who raised him as if she was his mother. Unfortunately, their bond was put to the test when the cow was to be sold to another owner.

Rookie is a small but energetic puppy who was completely inseparable from his cow “mother.” The cow would lick and nuzzle Rookie as any other mother would, and sometimes he would even sleep on her back.

The two never left each other’s side until their owner decided that he could no longer afford to keep the cow, so she was removed from the enclosure that she shared with Rookie. The puppy was devastated when the cow was taken away, and he started howling and barking nonstop.

The level of grief that Rookie was feeling was evident in his eyes, which were as sad as could be.

One day, Rookie heard his mother mooing, and without hesitating, the puppy went searching! His owner chased after him calling his name, but Rookie paid no attention and just kept running. Nothing was going to stop him from reuniting with his cow mom! Following her voice, he finally reached his cow mother’s stall and jumped for joy.

The owner eventually reached them and picked the puppy up so that he could lick the cow’s face. He then separated them again and took Rookie back to his enclosure as the puppy desperately yipped and barked in sadness.

Over the course of the next few days, Rookie lost his appetite and refused to eat anything. His owner feared that Rookie was wasting away, and he was so saddened to see the state of the puppy that he made a decision. The owner decided to keep the cow, as he could not bear to separate these two! On top of that, he got another dog so that Rookie would have a canine friend to socialize with as well.
