Ashlyn is a 24 year-old occupational therapist who works in the Brantley School District, which has the motto, “Reach every student, every day.”

Ashlyn and her husband Brent live close to the Brantley School District so that she can pursue her dream of working there and changing the lives of students in the district. Brantley is not only one of the most poverty-stricken counties not only in Georgia, but in the nation, so her students need a lot of care.

Many of the schools in the district do not have enough computers for the students, and iPads are not available at all. When television host Ellen DeGeneres heard this, she knew she had to do something.

Ellen recently had Ashlyn and Brent on her show, and unbeknownst to them, Ellen had a major surprise for them up her sleeve!

It’s so touching to see a young teacher like Ashlyn going so above and beyond to help her students. Ashlyn and the rest of her school district strive to live by an Angel Schwindt quote: “While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”
