A construction worker from Santa Ana, California is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a woman from a kidnapper and rapist.

Taylor O’Neill was walking by a truck one day when he heard a woman screaming from inside the vehicle. When he looked inside the truck, Taylor saw a man and a woman in some sort of altercation, and he was struck by the look of “fear” on the female’s face.

“I noticed she was in trouble. I tried to open the door… couldn’t open it,” Taylor recalled. “So, I banged on the glass. And that is when he got off of her.”

Taylor was able to rescue the woman, whose mouth and nose had been taped shut, and he snapped photos of the suspect’s white truck. One of the photos showed the suspect’s license plate, so police were able to track down and arrest the perpetrator.

“Who knows what would have happened if he wasn’t there? Fortunately, the gods were working in her favor,” said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Since the attack occurred in broad daylight, police fear that the suspect is a dangerous predator who has targeted more victims in the past. Police are hailing Taylor as a hero, praising him for taking the time to stop and help a woman in need.

We applaud Taylor for having the courage to confront the perpetrator and save this woman’s life. We need more brave people like him in the world!
