A unidentified male business class passenger on an Air Canada flight caused a five hour delay last weekend when he threw a huge hissy fit over his meal.

Witnesses say that the man had just taken his seat on a flight from Vancouver to Toronto when he became “disruptive” and started demanding that he be served fish, adding that he could not eat a meal with gluten in it. The man started making these demands as flight attendants were taking meal requests from passengers before takeoff.

One witness said that while the man was swearing and hurling out various words of abuse, he did not seem to be drunk.

“He was very calm and was like, ‘If I don’t get fish, there will be a problem. One way or another, I will get my fish, either you serve it to me or I will serve it to myself,'” the witness recalled.

The passenger’s behavior was so out of control that the plane had to return to the gate, where the man was removed from the flight. His outburst caused such a bad delay that the flight crew had to be replaced.

“The pilot came on the radio and said, ‘Due to this delay of having to come back to the gate, the co-pilot and I have tapped out on our hours and we need to get you new pilots to get you to Toronto,’” the witness said.

The delay ended up being five hours, much to the dismay of the other passengers.

“We were all inconvenienced because this guy had a hissy fit over not being able to get fish,” the witness concluded.
