Morgan Gero is a little boy from West Jordan, Utah who has endured rude comments from his peers over the fact that he has been growing his hair out for the past few years. Though he’s gotten some strange comments from classmates and parents who assume that he is a girl, Morgan has refused to stop growing his hair. Despite the unwanted stares and comments, Morgan had a very special reason for growing his hair long.

Morgan stopped cutting his hair two years ago so that he could donate 12 inches of hair to Wigs for Kids. He knows from past experience what it is like to have to battle medical issues at an early age, as he was born premature at 27 weeks and lived his first few weeks of life in the NICU. On top of that, his birth was so difficult that his mother Sandrine nearly died.

“It was really hard. It was very traumatic for both me and my husband,” Sandrine said. “We did not know if he was actually going to live.”

Many boys would have given up on this endeavor after being bullied by their classmates, but not Morgan. He refused to let any negative criticism stop him from accomplishing his kindhearted goal.

“It’s annoying when people just think I’m a girl,” Morgan said. “Usually when I go into the boys bathroom, people kind of look at me funny. Even the adults look at me funny. They’re like, ‘What are you doing in this bathroom?'”

In the video below, you’ll see Sandrine take Morgan to the salon to finally get his hair cut. After two years of growing it out, the big day to donate his locks has finally arrived!

We applaud Morgan for having the compassion to help other children in need. Find out more about his story in the video below.
