This week, a touching video is going viral showing a 9 year-old boy’s reaction when his dad surprises him upon returning home from a 10 month-long deployment. The video serves as a reminder not only of the sacrifices members of the military make, but the sacrifices that their families make as well.

Last week, 9 year-old Luca Cesternino went to his Taekwondo class in Tennessee as he usually does. He had no idea at the time that his father, Staff Sergeant Rob Cesternino, had returned home from his lengthy deployment and was getting ready to surprise him at his class.

In the video below, you’ll see Rob surprise his son partway through the class. Luca was in the middle of sparring blindfolded, so he could not see that his opponent was actually his dad dressed in uniform. When he finally takes off his blindfold, Luca’s reaction to seeing his beloved dad is nothing short of priceless!

“I love you, and I’m so proud of you,” Rob can be heard telling his son. “You were such a big boy while I was gone.”

Rob later explained that the Cesternino family has a long history of serving their country.

“We are a military family,” Rob said. “My family served in every single generation all the way back to World War I. It was expected in my family. I tell people that the military is a family business. I have a son that was in the Coast Guard; I have a son that was in the Navy; my daughter was in the Air Force. It’s just expected that you wear the uniform of your country. You don’t have to make it a career. The service — it’s important.”
