When Nicole Finnegan gave birth to her son Max, she wondered how her 2 year-old French bulldog/Boston Terrier mix named Hugo would react. Sometimes dogs have a difficult time adjusting to a new baby in the house, but Hugo did not end up having this problem at all, as he bonded with Max immediately!

When Max was 5 months-old, Nicole was filming him as he lay on his back at their home in Glasgow, United Kingdom when Hugo walked over. As the camera rolled, Hugo reached out his paw and grabbed Max’s hand, refusing to let go.

The two held hands for five seconds, and Hugo kept reaching out for more. Nicole posted the video to Twitter along with the caption, “If this doesn’t melt your heart I don’t know what will.”

The touching video has quickly gone viral, with many saying that it perfectly shows off the bond that can form between a dog and a human. Dogs are known as man’s best friend for a reason, as they show love and loyalty to us like nobody else does. Max is one lucky little boy to have a dog like Hugo around to watch his back! It’s clear that these two are going to be the best of friends for many years to come.
