When a massive snowstorm hit her hometown of Manitoba, Canada, 18-year-old Eileen Eagle Bears went to check out the local traffic cameras set up along her highways to see if any drivers needed help.

Though the highway was mostly empty, Eileen soon caught sight of a stranded truck driver, and she desperately wanted to do something to help him. She promised herself that she would set out to help him if she saw he was still trapped there in the morning, and when he was indeed still there, she knew what she had to do.

Though he was trapped three miles from her house, Eileen could not just leave him there, so she saddled up her horse and headed out. Eileen and her horse Mr. Smudge made the long journey in the snowstorm and eventually reached the interstate. When they finally reached the driver, they found him asleep in his truck after a long night in the cold.

The driver was both stunned and touched that she had come all that way just to help him. Eileen brought him fresh coffee to warm him up, and as he drank it, she made another promise. The teen promised that if he was still stuck there by nightfall, she would come back for him again, agreeing to make the six mile round trip.

“I just did it because I wanted to help, so I just feel like I did the right thing,” Eileen explained.

Eileen later returned to bring the trucker dinner, and soon after that, he was finally able to get out. Eileen was stunned to see that her act of kindness had gone viral!

“It is overwhelming,” she said. “I had gotten back and my mom had posted just a post on Facebook. And there was a few likes at the beginning, but we went back and there was just more and more, and it just totally blew up.”

We need more people like this young woman in the world!
