An Indiana police dispatcher is being praised after she had a kind reaction to a little boy who called 911 because he had a bad day.
Antonia Bundy is a police dispatcher with the Lafayette Police Department who is trained to handle emergencies, which is why she was surprised when she was at work one day and heard a little boy on the other end of the line saying that “he had a really bad day at school.”
Antonia responded by asking what made his day so bad, to which he responded that he had “a ton of homework.” When she asked him if he needed help with his homework, the boy said that he had never been good at math and asked her for help on a fractions problem. Antonia then patiently walked him through the problem until he was able to come up with the right answer!
Once he had the right answer, Antonia was quick to praise him for doing such a good job.
“I’m sorry for calling you, but I really needed help,” the boy said, but Antonia waved off his apology by saying, “we are always here for you.”
The police department later posted audio of the call to social media, where it quickly went viral.
Our dispatchers never know what the next call might be.They train for many emergency situations, homework help is not one they plan for. We don’t recommend 911 for homework help but this dispatcher helped a young boy out and brightened his day.@PoliceOne @apbweb @wlfi @WTHRcom pic.twitter.com/w3qCYfJP7O

We applaud Antonia for taking the time to help this little boy who was just having a rough day. The world would be a much better place if more people were kind and patient to each other like Antonia was to this boy!
