There’s nothing more powerful than the love a mother has for her child. Mothers will do absolutely everything they can to save their children’s lives if they are in danger, and one mother from Kentucky is showing this in a big way as she is desperately trying to get a transplant for her dying 16 month-old daughter.

Jennifer Shane is the mother of Aurora “Rori” Shane, a baby who was born with a heart defect. Various corrective surgeries failed, and doctors are now saying that a transplant is the only thing that can save Rori’s life. Rori has spent the vast majority of her life living at Norton Children’s Hospital, and though she has been on the transplant list for 200 days, doctors say that time is running out for her.

Jennifer explained that she named her daughter Aurora after an old English word that meant “Hope of a new dawn.” Now, all she is hoping for is that a transplant will come in that will give Rori the new dawn that she needs.

Jennifer has created a Facebook page to plead for help in finding a transplant for her daughter. She wrote the following call for help on this page:

Rori has been waiting a long time for a heart. Unfortunately, because of her size she has not received many offers, blood type and weight are a key factor, a donor who weights 20-50 pounds is needed and her blood type is A+. Sharing this on social media is a long shot but it has worked and after living in the hospital for almost two years with Rori, I’ve heard firsthand of these stories. So I’m here bare bones about my daughter and her story to strangers which is not an easy thing but if this finds her a heart I would do it a million times over. If someone sees this and can help or get us in touch with someone who can help please let me know here or I can be reached at 503-412-9976. If there is a heart out there for Rori the cardiac transplant team can work with the donor and the donors family, confirm the match and Rori can truly have a real chance.
Thank you for caring – Jen (Rori’s mom)

Jennifer has also created a GoFundMe page where people can help cover Rori’s astronomical medical expenses as well as the growing expenses of living in the hospital. If you are financially able to, please consider helping this family out in any way you can!
