Anyone who has ever renovated their home knows that there is no telling the surprises that you will find when you begin the project. When Mark Von Thaden started to renovate his home in California, he found something behind his walls that he was not expecting!

Mark was forced to renovate his pool house after a few woodpeckers started poking holes in the walls. Needless to say, he was not very pleased about this.

In the video below, Mark comes upon something behind his walls that is so strange that he can’t help but break out laughing. The video opens with him scanning the room with his camera, showing off dozens of holes made by the woodpecker.

“I’ve determined I hate woodpeckers,” Mark says as he shows off all of the damage that the woodpeckers have done.

It’s only when Mark takes a closer look that the woodpeckers had a reason for poking holes in his wall that makes a lot of sense: it was their food pantry!

As he pulled back the insulation of the wall, thousands of acorns came pouring out. Lord only knows how long the woodpeckers had been storing them there! It seems that the birds would peck their way through the walls and leave the acorns there, hoping to come back for them later. The woodpeckers did not realize that the acorns were falling to the bottom, since the walls were hollow.

Mark could not help but laugh as he realized his pool house had been used to store thousands and thousands of acorns!

Mark certainly has a lot of cleaning ahead of him. Hopefully he picks a more durable material for the wall when he gets around to remodeling!
