Piper is a chocolate Labrador from North Dakota who has stolen the hearts of internet users everywhere with her adorable attachment to her best friend, a stuffed elephant!

Alex Naseth, Piper’s owner, said that the dog had shredded all her other toys before falling in love with the elephant, which she bought for just $12 from Aldi two weeks ago. Piper, who is 2 years-old, has refused to leave the elephant’s side ever since, taking the toy with her wherever she goes.

Hilarious CCTV footage shows Piper refusing to get out of the car for a shopping trip without the elephant, eventually jumping out of the car window with the beloved toy in her mouth. The video has since gone viral, garnering almost 100,000 views on the social media site Reddit in just a few days.

“This is a new toy and because it’s so large she seems to treat it like a buddy instead of shredding it like her other toys,” Alex said. “She seemed to fall in love with Elephant from the second I brought it home for her and now insists on taking it everywhere with her. I think it’s hilarious how she carries it around, because it’s so big she has trouble not tripping over it constantly.”

“Piper and I were going to the store and because she’s a really good girl I don’t use a leash so I called her name and she came down the stairs with her toy like usual,” Alex added of the video below. “There’s not much I can do to stop her, she loves it and doesn’t want to go anywhere without it. It might look a bit silly walking around with your dog carrying that but if it makes her happy then so be it. Everyone I showed the video to thought it was very funny as Piper has an extravagant personality.”
