Humans bond incredibly fast with dogs, who often become part of the family and are not merely pets. This is why it’s so devastating when a dog disappears, leaving his or her owners to grieve as if they have lost a human loved one.

This is exactly the situation that Armand Ravizza found himself in back in late 2015, when his 9 year-old Siberian husky named Kody suddenly disappeared. Armand did everything he could to get Kody back, putting out a scent dog and launching drones to find the canine. He started a Facebook page and even went on the local news to spread Kody’s story, but nothing worked.

After two years, Armand had almost given up hope when something incredible happened: Kody was spotted wandering around and was taken in by rescue officials!

“I got a call from the Noah’s Ark, which is an animal shelter in Rockford, that Kody was there,” Armand said. “I was shocked, stunned.”

Now 11 years-old, Kody was finally brought back to the home he shared with Armand. To everyone’s surprise, Kody recognized the home immediately and jumped into his favorite chair like he had never left it.

“When he got home here, he went right back to that chair like he always had,” Armand said.

Kody was found to be in perfect health, and nobody knows what he was doing during the two years he was gone. Armand doesn’t mind, however, as all he cares about is that Kody is home safe where he belongs.
