A farmer has found himself becoming a viral sensation after he planted a field full of flowers for his blind wife.

Toshiyuki and Yasuko Kuroki had been married for thirty years and had spent decades working their dairy farm in Japan when Yasuko went blind from complications of diabetes. When she lost her eyesight, Yasuko withdrew from life and stopped wanting to talk to anyone, locking herself away in their house.

Toshiyuki was working their farm one day when he noticed a shibazakura, which is a bright, fuchsia-colored flower. He was saddened at first that his wife could no longer enjoy the beauty of the flower, but then he realized that she could still enjoy the smell.

Toshiyuki decided to start planting the flower near their house, then he decided to plant them all over their farm. He ended up turning their diary farm into a giant field of flowers that is so beautiful that tourists come from all over the world to see it!

The scent of the flowers lured Yasuko out of the house, and she began to enjoy life again. This all happened 25 years ago, and the flowers are still there to this day.

The shibazakura bloom each March and April, and 7,000 tourists come to see them each year. They come not only to see the flowers, but also to see the couple whose love led to the flowers being planted.
