Doctors say that everyone should be drinking 64 ounces of water, and that doing so will vastly improve your health. Though most people prefer drinking cold water, their are actually pros and cons to drinking water at a higher or lower temperature.

One of the benefits of drinking cold water is that it can prevent heat stroke. If you find yourself becoming overheated, drinking a glass of cold water can lower your body temperature quickly.

A con to drinking cold water, however, is that it can make you sick. Cold water causes mucus in your body to increase and expand, which then weakens your immune system and increases your chances of getting sick. Cold water can also weaken you overall, as your body needs to spend more energy warming you up once you have drank it.

Finally, cold water can cause your stomach to become upset because it makes your blood vessels shrink, which makes it more difficult for your body to digest food correctly.

Drinking warm water has it’s pros and cons as well. First of all, it can help you lose weight because the heat it creates in your body makes you burn calories faster. We must warn you to avoid drinking warm water after working out, however, as you need to drink cold water to lower your body heat.

Warm water can also remove toxins from your body, and it’s even more effective at doing this if you include a slice of lemon. Another benefit to warm water is that it helps to ease muscle cramps.
