Experts all over the world are very excited right now after a 1,200 year-old Bible was recovered from smugglers in Turkey.

The ancient book, which is made of leather and has gold lettering, is in very frail condition. The 34 pages of the book include various religious symbols and motifs that will certainly be studied by experts.

Police found the Bible on Monday as part of an anti-smuggling operation in Kayapinar, a city that is a few hours away from Syria. Three suspects were arrested while trying to sell the Bible at a shoe store. Six people in total have been detained in connection to the book.

The Bible has been handed over to local university for examination by archaeologists.

While it’s sad that smugglers were trying to profit off selling such a historic holy book, we’re glad that the Bible is back in safe hands. Ancient texts like this one serve as a nice reminder that Christianity really has been around for thousands of years. This Bible will undoubtedly help Christians of today feel a connection with the Christians who read this holy book 1,200 years ago. It will also give historians an opportunity to see what life was like so many years ago.

We also hope that police throw the book (no pun intended) at the smugglers who were trying to sell this book. Trying to criminally profit off any Bible is wrong, but to do so off such a historic piece of text is truly despicable. Hopefully, these smugglers will be sent to prison and end up doing the hard time that they deserve.
