Midnight is a 4 year-old Labrador mix who started behaving oddly one night, which immediately let her owner Tim Curfman know that something was wrong. Midnight never acted this way, and since the dog was on high alert, it was clear that she had spotted something that was out of the ordinary.

Tim had no idea at the time that Midnight was about to save someone’s life.

Midnight was acting so frantic that Tim finally allowed the dog to lead him outside in the freezing -1 degree Minnesota weather. It was only then that Tim saw that his 87 year-old neighbor Noreen had fallen and injured herself in the snow as she tried to fill her bird feeder.

Tim was taking out the trash when he noticed that Midnight “had her ears perked up looking at me.” He knew that Midnight had noticed something that she wanted him to deal with.

“She doesn’t normally do that. Sometimes you get that feeling something’s up,” Tim said.

Thankfully, Tim followed Midnight’s intuition and found Noreen, who was stuck in the snow.

“We figured she was out there at least a half an hour,” said Curfman. “She could not have gotten up because her gloves had gotten wet and she didn’t have enough strength in her fingers to push herself up. Nothing around the corner to get up and get a hold of either.”

Noreen is incredibly grateful to Midnight, who she says saved her life.

“We’ve been very proud of her because it’s not every dog that pays attention to things like this,” Tim said of Midnight. “And she got so many treats it was a shame.”

It’s always amazing to see how intuitive dogs can be! We’re so glad that Midnight was able to save Noreen’s life!
