Alla Ponomareva is a photographer who lives with her husband Garrett on 20 acres of land in Missoula, Montana. Since they live on such a big property, Alla and Garrett decided to get creative when they wanted to find a new way to accommodate their guests.

The couple used plans made by Derek “Deek” Diedricksen, who estimated that the project would cost $1,200, and used repurposed materials to make an A-Frame guesthouse. They ended up being able to cut $500 from the cost to build the structure for just $700!

The adorable guesthouse includes a large deck that wraps around the entire cabin, large windows, solar panels, and a completely translucent wall. The guesthouse gives guests the chance to experience nature in a whole new way!

The guesthouse has a removable wall expanding the 80-square-feet that also provides a roof for an instant covered patio.

“When the wall is up, its a whole different experience. Luckily, Montana has almost no mosquitoes to speak of in the summer time, so there’s no need for a mosquito net,” Alla explained.

The inside of the cabin is decorated with a coral and mint color scheme.

The two sofas that are on either side of the cabin can also be used as two separate beds, or they can be pushed together to make one bed.

While there is not a full kitchen, Alla and Garrett have included the guesthouse with some basic necessities that include a large water jug which guests can use for cooking, washing small dishes, or brushing their teeth. It also has a Coleman portable burner so guests can warm up water for coffee or tea, and it can be used to cook simple, small meals.

Outside of the guesthouse, there is a hammock area that is perfect for star gazing.

“If you haven’t seen the stars in Montana, then you haven’t truly seen the stars…” Alla said.
