Kathie Lee Gifford is getting ready to leave the “Today” show in April after 11 years on the program. As she heads into her final weeks on the show, emotions are running high as her coworkers are opening up about how much they are going to miss her. One such coworker is well-known meteorologist Al Roker, who just spoke out to say that Kathie Lee is just as lovely behind the scenes as she seems on television.

“I think we’re just kind of ignoring it,” Al said of her impending exit. “That maybe she’ll change her mind. You know… it’s gonna be very bittersweet but, you know, she has been such a great part of ‘Today,’ so it’s — I don’t wanna think about it!”

Al went on to say that he will miss “her laugh, her sense of humor, and her faith” and that she’s always reminded him to “be yourself” over their years working together.

“You know … that’s the one great thing about Kathie Lee … she kind of teaches by doing, not by telling you,” Al said.

Al also clarified that he has no intention of filling the spot Kathie Lee holds co-hosting the 10am hour of “Today” with Hoda Kotb. He said that while he would be “happy to” fill in, he really thinks “three hours of Al Roker is more than anybody really wants to see.”

Many have said that the most likely candidate to replace Kathie Lee is Jenna Bush Hager, but other names that have been thrown around are Sheinelle Jones and Jerry O’Connell. Regardless of who takes her place, Kathie Lee will still be missed by fans and coworkers alike.
