Being on a military drill team is no easy task. Marine recruits who join the team have to spend weeks learning intricate drills that involve memorizing their drill instructor’s calls as well as learning formations and how to move as a single unit. The discipline they learn here comes in handy later on in their military careers.

In the video below, you’ll see a drill team of Marines who are just about to graduate before moving on to the next phase of their training. Before they can actually move on, they have to perform a trick drill known as the “monkey drill.” The video below this story was shot at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina, and it shows just how disciplined these Marines really are.

The monkey drill tests everything that the recruits have learned during their training because believe it or not, it is completely improvised. The video begins with each of the recruits marching in single file lines until their drill instructor gives them a random call. Once this happens, they respond by executing the move as a single unit.

The soldiers remain completely undistracted by everything around them, even staying in formation when a group of soldiers walk out of a nearby barrack. Video of their monkey drill has since gone viral, impressing people all over the globe!

This video perfectly epitomizes how focused and disciplined the men and women of the United States military really are. We would like to thank each and every one of them for the sacrifices they make for their country!
