Bobcats are a feline species in the United States that is known for their hunting skills. The creatures rarely come around people, so if you end up encountering them, chances are you have either surprised the bobcat or the animal is sick. Regardless, you should back away slowly, as bobcats are anything but friendly!

Recently, however, two friends came across a bobcat who was trapped in a bear trap, and they decided to take the risk and help the animal out.

Chris Ward and his friend Aaron thought about walking away when they came upon the trapped bobcat, but they decided that they could not simply leave the creature to die. The bobcat was clearly very angry, and his instinct when the two humans approached him was to lash out at them.

The video below begins with the two friends saying that they were going to free the bobcat despite him being a “mean little dude.” The bobcat proceeded to hiss and snarl at them as they approached him with no real plan in place on how to go about freeing him.

The friends tried to use a bag to free the bobcat, which caused the creature to lash out even more  They tried to distract the bobcat with a stick, but the animal refused to play ball at first.

Eventually, the bobcat starts treating the stick like an enemy toy, which allowed the friends to finally free his foot from the trap! One would think that the bobcat would turn and flee, but he instead stands upright and stares at Chris and Aaron, prompting them to say “he’s just chillin’, let him regain himself.”

Soon enough, the bobcat scurried under the friends’ jeep to hide.

Chris and Aaron decided to then rev the engine, which finally startled the bobcat enough to send him running for the hills to freedom.

We’re so glad this story had a happy ending! Check out the rescue for yourself below!
