In the world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a marriage that actually stands the test of time. That’s what makes Tom Hanks’ thirty year marriage to actress Rita Wilson so unusual and special!

Though Hanks and Wilson have been married since 1988, they still love each other just as much as they did when they first met.

Happy Valentine’s Day 28 years of ❤️?❤️?

When Hanks was recently asked about the secret behind his long marriage, he gave an answer that gave his fans some insight as to how to make a relationship last.

“We just like each other. You start there,” he began.

“When we first looked at each other there was definitely a kind of (pointing to camera), ‘Hey, this is the place!’ I felt that anyway,” Hanks continued. “I think the end result is that we got married for all the right reasons. Most of our friends have been married longer than we have. We’re the young pups when it comes to it.”

“People say, ‘Jeez, it must be hard to stay married in show business. I think it’s hard to stay married anywhere, but if you marry the right person, it might work out,” Hanks said previously. “We give each other a natural sense of support for whatever the other wants to pursue. Our marriage doesn’t require vast work.”

Hanks’ advice is very simple, and it makes a lot of sense. People overthink love all the time, but when it comes down to it, the main thing required in a marriage is enjoying your spouse. If you genuinely enjoy the person who you are married to, you can work through whatever else comes up together.

It’s refreshing to see a couple like Hanks and Wilson stay together for such a long time in Hollywood! We hope that they have many years of happiness together to come!
