This Farmer’s Hack Will Keep Your Avocados From Going Brown

Avocados are one of the most popular foods that there is these days, as it is both healthy and delicious. Anyone who loves avocados knows how annoying it is when they go bad and turn brown after a few days. That’s why it’s so great that a farmer has just come forward with a hack that will keep your avocado green for a longer period of time!

Avocados are full of vitamin K, folate, vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, and vitamin E as well as magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, phosphorous, vitamin A, B1, B2, and B3. On top of being nutritious, they are delicious and perfect for eats like guacamole, avocado toast, avocado smoothies, avocado salads and much more.

This farmer’s simple hack will help you keep your avocado green for much longer than usual. All you have to do is cut a red onion into large chunks and place the pieces into an airtight plastic container. Then, place your avocado half inside the container with the pit on top and the skin of the avocado touching the onion chunks. Put the lid on the container before you place it in the refrigerator.

The onions will emit sulfur gasses that help to stop the oxidation process in the avocado which causes it to turn brown. This will allow you to enjoy your avocado for longer, and not have to rush to eat it quickly!
