It’s been one cold winter in the northeast, which is why part of the unforgettably beautiful Niagara Falls have frozen over. Images of the frozen falls have quickly gone viral, with people all over the world saying that the falls have never looked more breathtaking.

The below photos were shot on January 20, and they have captivated the attention of people everywhere ever since.

Emma Grafham, who was visiting the falls, said that she felt like she was in “Elsa’s castle,” referring to the main character in the Disney film Frozen.

“There was even this set of stairs that were placed just outside the look-on spot and they had so much ice on them, it looked like Elsa had just cast her arm out and summoned up some stairs like she does in the movie,” she said.

“The sun came out for only 15 minutes. Just to make this experience even more memorable I guess. I froze my butt off with -25 Celcius,” the above photo was captioned.

The images should come as no surprise given how cold it was in the northeast this week. Temperatures in that part of the country reached a low of negative 20 degrees on Tuesday, and it’s not going to be warming up anytime soon.

“The waves of cold air will continue for the next two weeks,” warned CNN meteorologist Michael Guy.

While it might not be fun to be stuck in cold weather, it cannot be denied that the cold helps to create some unbelievably beautiful images. For the sake of all of you in the northeast, however, we hope things warm up soon!
