Josette Duran is a mother from Albuquerque, New Mexico who has been doing something unusual for her son since the beginning of the school year.

Over the past few months, Josette has been packing one lunch for her son Dylan as well as a second that he can bring for his friend. The reason why is touching the hearts of internet users everywhere .

Josette took to Facebook to reveal how the initial conversation went in which Dylan asked for two lunches:

Dylan: Mama can you make me TWO lunches today?

Me: Are you not getting full boo?

Dylan: Yes Mom, it’s for this boy. He only eats a fruit cup for lunch can you make him lunch too? I don’t think he has lunch money.

Dylan explained that his friend did not have enough money to buy anything more than a fruit cup for lunch, so he wanted to bring lunch for him. When Josette learned what was really going on with Dylan’s friend’s family, she was moved to tears, as she had been in a similar situation herself not too long ago.

“A few years ago, me and my son were homeless,” she said. “I was living in my car and I was washing him in bathrooms. And we didn’t have food.”

Over the next few months, Josette sent Dylan to school with two lunches every day. Recently, she received a call from the school principal, who wanted her to come to the school right away. He explained that the mother of Dylan’s friend had learned what Josette was doing, and she wanted to speak with her.
