Fans have been praying for Jimmy Osmond ever since he suffered a stroke last week while portraying Captain Hook onstage in the United Kingdom. Now, he has finally broken his silence through a spokesman to let his fans know that he would be taking some much needed rest over the next few months.

Jimmy, who rose to fame in the 1970s as the youngest member of the musical Osmond family, was appearing in “Peter Pan” onstage at the Birmingham Hippodrome when he had the stroke. Despite his stroke, Jimmy still pushed through the performance and even managed to sign autographs afterwards.

“He has received the care he needs and is looking forward to a few months of self care,” the source said.

“On the evening of Thursday December 27 after pushing through the evening’s performance, Jimmy Osmond was driven straight to hospital and diagnosed with a stroke,” his spokesman said. “He is grateful for all the well wishes and will be taking time out in the New Year.”

Jimmy had previously suffered a stroke when he was 40, 15 years ago. After that stroke, he described having “vision-blurring headaches after months of working hard.”

“My wife Michelle took me to hospital and it was discovered I’d had a stroke – I didn’t have high cholesterol, high blood pressure or any other warning sign,” he added. “An ultrasound scan showed I had a hole in my heart the size of a pound coin, which had contributed to the stroke because when my body was under stress, it was sending little blood clots up to my brain.”

The Osmond family thanked fans for their prayers after Jimmy’s stroke with Donny tweeting:

Please keep Jimmy Osmond in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time!
