It will be twenty years come July since John F. Kennedy Jr. passed away in a plane crash with his wife and sister-in-law. Now, a new documentary called “The Last Days of JFK Jr.” is coming out that will explore the final years of the young man who many said was destined to be president some day.

Kennedy was killed with his wife, Carolyn Bessette, and her sister Lauren Bessette as he tried to fly them to a wedding on Martha’s Vineyard. ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts said that the couple’s relationship was a volatile one, and that they could go from having incredibly intense fights to declaring their love for each other.

“They were under an enormous bright spotlight and that had to be hard to cope with, particularly for her,” Roberts said.

The documentary will interview various sources about Kennedy’s final night when he took that fateful flight. Pilot Kyle Bailey recalled seeing Kennedy and the Bessette sisters at the Essex County Airport in Fairfield, New Jersey just before they were due to take off. Bailey had cancelled his own flight that night, which was set to go a similar route to Kennedy’s, because of the conditions.

“As a pilot myself, I was concerned with flying over water at nighttime,” Bailey said. “I opted to be on the safe side and scrub the flight. I really did have a bad feeling, and what went through my mind exactly was, ‘I hope he does have an instructor with him on the airplane, or he’s gonna have a problem.’”
