An adorable grandmother has found herself becoming a viral star after she was caught on camera reacting with pure delight when she saw that her hair had been dyed turquoise!

Alayde Menna Barreto is an 80 year-old retired teacher who has always dreamed of dying her hair a different color. Her daughter-in-law Julia, 50, finally made this dream a reality when she recently dyed her hair at the family’s home in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Alayde’s grandson Bruno Menna Barreto, 21, filmed her reaction, which could not have been more priceless!

Bruno explained that Alayde had always wanted to dye her hair, but her strict parents and husband had stopped her from doing so. When her husband passed away from a heart attack two years ago, however, Alayde realized that “time was passing by” and that it was finally time to dye her hair!

“We were all together talking about some plans, and she said that dying her hair was something she never had the chance to do,” Bruno said. “So my mother said that we could do this for her, and she was so happy about it. Green is her favourite colour. She had really strict parents, and later when she was married her husband never encouraged her.”

“She said that the time is passing by, and she needs to do the things she was always wanted to,” he continued. “She said that lately she was seeing a lot of young girls with cool colored hairs and she wanted to do too.”

The video shows Alayde jumping around in excitement as she looks at her new hair color in the mirror!

“I love my new hair color. I don’t know why I waited so long to do it,” Alayde said. “This week two younger girls talked to me and said that they loved my hair, now I’m planning to every month switch to a new colour.”

Bruno said that his grandmother is hoping that the video will inspire others to do what they want, even if they are afraid to do it.

“I have never seen my grandma so happy about her hair. She said that next month will change her hair to blue because our soccer team have blue as their main color,” Bruno said. “I think that she will try to change her hair to a new colour every month now.”
