Millions of people all over the world struggle with infertility, and Daljinder Kaur and her husband are one such couple that found themselves having difficulty conceiving a child. Like many others, Daljinder and her husband first sought fertility treatments in September of 2014, but there’s one thing about them that makes them very different from most couples trying to conceive: Daljinder is in her seventies, while her husband is 80.

The couple has been married for almost fifty years, and they have never had children, which is something that they would now like to change.

“I used to feel empty. There was so much loneliness,” Daljinder said. “I had lost hope of becoming a mother ever.”

Feeling inspired after a longstanding family feud was resolved, Daljinder decided to finally make her dreams of conceiving a child come true. It took a lot of convincing, but Daljinder finally got doctors to give her rounds of IVF treatments. After two years and three rounds of treatments, Daljinder was finally pregnant!

On April 19, 2016, Daljinder gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Arman. Despite her advanced age, there were no complications with the birth. Afterwards, Daljinder even spent months breastfeeding her son just like any other mother would.

One year later, the press caught up with Daljinder to see if motherhood was everything she had hoped that it would be. Though she admitted that being a mother was harder than she expected it to be, she added that she and her husband have no regrets about having their son.
