Like many other 9 year-olds, Nathan Simons loves watching YouTube videos, much to the dismay of his father Ethan. However, Nathan recently watched a YouTube video that inspired him to do something that showed his father an entirely different side of his son that he had never seen before.

Nathan stumbled upon a series of videos that showed YouTube personalities donating food to homeless shelters all over the country. He immediately called his father and told him that he wanted to do his part to help the homeless as well.

The fourth grader decided to clean out his bank account and donate all his money to homeless people in his community of Rock Island, Illinois. Ethan was reluctant when he first heard his son’s plan, but then he thought to himself, “What kind of lesson am I teaching him if I tell him, ‘No, you shouldn’t be selfless.’”

Nathan called his local homeless shelters and made a list of items that he could buy for them with his savings. Nathan and his dad headed to the bank and took out all his money. Once they have done this, they go right to Walmart and got to shopping!

Nathan’s story has quickly gone viral, with people all over the country applauding the fourth grader for being so selfless. He truly is a special boy to be so caring as to use all his savings to help out the homeless. We can only imagine the good deeds he’ll continue to do as he grows up!
