A photographer just managed to capture the incredible moment that a wild stallion ran into a body of water and rescued a baby horse, who was drowning.

It all started on a summer day in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest, where a stallion named Champ decided to graze with his family alongside the Salt River.

Another group of wild horses soon joined them, and a few other horses decided to cross the river to say hello. Champ and a small filly were two of the horses who were crossing the river.

All was going well until they got halfway across the river, at which point the current became too strong for the little filly. The filly could not fight the current and started to get swept down the river, but Champ was not about to let the filly drown on his watch.

Champ ran after the filly and grabbed ahold of her neck before pulling her back towards the riverbank. Champ refused to let the filly go until she was safe and sound!

The filly ran right for her mother as soon as she was safe, and Champ went back into the river to rejoin his family and friends.

Champ’s reunion with his family is incredibly heartwarming. Though he was only gone for a few moments, they greet him as if he has been gone for years, and it’s clear just how much love they have for him!

It’s so amazing to see an animal rescue like this one on camera! Find out more about this in the video below!
