Christmas is the time of year when most people just naturally want to help other people and be kind to those around them. We want to spread the Christmas spirit to everyone we meet.

For one restaurant, sharing the Christmas spirit means going above and beyond what would normally be expected of a business owner or employee at a dining establishment. Instead of just keeping their doors open for Christmas like some places do for their customers, a London restaurant has decided to take this act of kindness one step further.

Not everyone has family and friends to spend the holidays with, and that can make the holidays particularly tough. What can make this seemingly happy holiday not so happy even more is if you don’t even have a home to celebrate in.

That’s where the Shish in Bexley, London, comes in to play. The restaurant is run by Hasan Masud. Although he doesn’t celebrate Christmas himself, he is showing us what Christmas spirit is all about. Instead of letting the elderly people whose families seem to have forgotten about them or the homeless people who have no where to go feel all alone, Masud is opening up his restaurant to them.

But he’s not just keeping the doors open. He’s taking it a step further. So much further in fact, that the sign outside of his restaurant has gone viral all around the world.

The sign is offering not only a free meal, but a free three course meal to anyone who wants to come in and have a seat on Christmas day. The restaurant will serve up some of their Turkish specialties.

The menu will start with soup and cacik, followed by a chicken or vegetarian casserole or chicken shish, and rice pudding will be served for dessert. But there’s still more to offer!

“We are here to sit with you,” said the note on the door about the posted offer. Employees will be at the restaurant to offer company to anyone who comes to eat. “They can come here and have some fun,” said Masud who says they are just people helping people.

What an amazing story! Be sure to share this heartwarming story with your family and friends. We could all stand to learn a thing or two from this restaurant.
