Sandra Bullock is known for being one of the most talented and beloved actresses in Hollywood. However, what most fans don’t know about Bullock is that she has an incredibly charitable side of her as well.
Bullock has reportedly spent years quietly donating $1 million to charitable efforts after disasters hit. Most recently, she donated $1 million to efforts to help California deal with the Camp Fire wildfire that swept through parts of the state. She began by donating $500,000 to the Red Cross’s relief efforts as well as $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of Ventura County. She then made another $400,000 donation to the Red Cross.
“The untold destruction from these fires is heartbreaking, especially following the tragedy at Borderline in Thousand Oaks,” Bullock said at the time. “I’m glad to be able to help. We’re all family in this, whether it be human, furry or feathered.”
This is far from the first time Bullock has helped out after a disaster struck. She also made a $1 million donation to relief efforts following such disasters as the September 11 terrorist attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Donating is not the only charitable thing that Bullock does. After Hurricane Katrina, she “adopted” Warren Eason Charter High School, the oldest public school in New Orleans that was destroyed by the storm. She donated $25,000 to completely rebuild the school and took a hands-on role in helping them to develop an on-campus health clinic. She also worked to ensure that the school had a 100 percent graduation rate in 2011.
Bullock has never sought out any publicity or praise for her charitable efforts, instead choosing to go about helping others quietly. Her humble and selfless attitude is rare in Hollywood, and this makes us love her even more!
