An epic video is going viral this week showing a no-nonsense mother completely take down a punk who tries to steal her car in New York City.

Tihisha Jones, 49, was getting ready to drive her son to school in the Melrose section of The Bronx when she noticed the criminal in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. She was just about to enter the car herself when she discovered the man in the driver’s seat playing with the ignition to try and start the car.

The mother did not hesitate to leap to action.

“He’s lucky I didn’t kill him,” Tihisha said. “That’s the thing. He’s lucky I didn’t kill him.”

She first opened the passenger door to confront the suspect, since identified as Bernado Santiago, 19, but he responded by closing the door on her. Undeterred, Tihisha ran back over to the driver’s side and proceeded to pull the man out of her car before throwing him on the ground. She then held him there while waiting for police to arrive.

“I came to the side to get him out this way, but I couldn’t get him out this way — he pulled the door to close it on me,” she recounted. “I jumped across the car, open this door and I pull him out and then after that, I couldn’t tell you what happened. I just had to do what I had to do.”

When officers got to the scene, the seemingly intoxicated Bernado tried to convince them that he thought Tihisha’s car was an Uber, but they weren’t buying it. They arrested the man and charged him with one count of attempted grand larceny, one count of petty larceny and one count of criminal stolen possession of stolen property.

Tihisha said that this was not the first time her car had been broken into this month.

“They just broke this window last week,” she said. “Just the last week they broke my window. So I guess he got a whoopin’ for the old and the new.”
