Rich Houck is a former respiratory therapist from New Jersey whose son Jacob was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor just before his fourth birthday. At the time, doctors warned Rich and his wife that Jacob did not have long to live, but he has beaten the odds to make it to the age of 21 today.

Rich and the rest of his family relish every moment they have with Jacob. During a recent trip to the mall, Rich decided that he wanted to make Jacob smile. As Jacob walked a few steps behind him with his mother, Rich ran into a clothing store and approached the assistant manager, Nicole Prodin.

“Hey, can I ask a favor?” he said to her. “My son has special needs and I wanna make him laugh. I’d like to pose in your window, if possible.”

Nicole said yes, and what happened next was so heartwarming that Nicole whipped out her phone to record it before posting the video to social media.

“You guys, my night was made tonight by a man who is such a great father,” she wrote.

“I just thought, like, this is what I’m doing.  I’m making him happy, and that’s it,” Rich said afterwards. The video has since gone viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world. Rich explained that all that matters to him is making Jacob as happy as possible during the time that he has left.

“He’s not supposed to be here. We are enjoying every day we got with him,” he said.
