America is in mourning now for former President George H.W. Bush, who passed away last Friday at the age of 94. Now, a photo of Bush’s beloved service dog Sully is going viral, making people all over the world tear up.

On Sunday, Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath posted a photo of Sully laying next to Bush’s casket.

“Mission complete,” McGrath captured the powerful image.

Sully started working with Bush back in June, weeks after the death of his beloved wife Barbara. Trained by America’s VetDogs, Sully helped Bush out with his Parkinson’s disease by doing things like opening doors, picking up various items, and getting help for him when he needed it.

On Tuesday morning, Sully paid another visit to Bush’s casket as it lay in state at the Capitol Rotunda.

After Christmas, Sully is set to join the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s Facility Dog Program after the holidays.

“As much as our family is going to miss this dog, we’re comforted to know he’ll bring the same joy to his new home, Walter Reed, that he brought to 41,” former President George W. Bush wrote of the dog on Instagram.

We’re glad that Bush had a dog like Sully to make his final months easier! Please keep the Bush family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
